Infrastructure Engineer

ZAITRA, established in 2020, is a startup with a primary emphasis on delivering tailored flight software and cutting-edge AI solutions for space missions. Our endeavours encompass projects for both the European Space Agency and commercial customers.

About the role

As a Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the entire insfrastructure powering our services and internal tool, including the cloud-native app delivering satellite insights and self-hosted tools the team uses every day. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build the automated backbone so the dev team can deploy heavy workloads without thinking about it.
  • Architect and run the cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking) for our ground-segment platform.
  • Manage the VPN and keep our internal services (Mattermost, Nextcloud, etc.) fast, self-hosted, and secure.
  • Automating repetitive tasks and maintaining configuration management for our infrastructure.
  • Setting up and managing backup solutions for critical systems and data.
  • Ensuring system security and staying up-to-date with cybersecurity best practices.

Required qualifications

  • You have done DevOps or SysAdmin work in a production environment before.
  • You are a Linux power user. You know how the kernel, networking, and storage actually work.
  • You’re proficient with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • You can write clean, functional scripts in Python or Bash to automate your own job.
  • You understand networking, VPNs.
  • You have experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
  • You think space is cool and want to help build the infrastructure that connects it to Earth.
